How our removals work
Pay for the time it takes to move you
We do house removals and apartment moves across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. You pay an hourly rate for the crew and truck, counted in 15-minute blocks after a 2-hour minimum, plus one fixed travel charge. There’s no stairs fee, fuel levy or card surcharge: stairs and long walks simply take more time, and your estimate allows for it.
Send us photos and both addresses and we’ll confirm your total price in writing before moving day. If the job on the day is different from what we agreed, we stop, explain and re-quote before carrying on.
What’s in the price
What a removals booking includes
The hourly rate covers the crew, the truck and the gear to move your furniture safely. Anything else is optional, and we price it before you book.
Included
- Two or three movers, depending on the size of your home
- A truck for your furniture and boxes
- Furniture blankets for wrapping, and trolleys for heavy items
- Beds, tables and desks taken apart and put back together
- Loading, the drive between addresses and unloading into the rooms you choose
Not included
- Packing: available if you book it ahead, at the same hourly rate
- Boxes, tape and packing materials: please have your own ready
- Pianos and safes: quoted separately after we see photos
- Taking away unwanted furniture or rubbish
- Disconnecting gas or hard-wired appliances, which has to be done by a licensed tradesperson
Moving just a few things? Man with a van is one mover and a van with a 1-hour minimum. Need new flat pack built or a TV hung at the new place? Tell us when you book and we’ll include the time and price for assembly or TV mounting on the same day in your written quote.
How we charge
How the time is counted
Each day has its own hourly rate, so you see the Saturday total before you book, not as a surcharge afterwards.
All prices include GST. Each rate is the full hourly rate for that day, not a surcharge. The minimum total is the 2-hour minimum plus the Zone A travel charge of $89; in Zone B, add $50.

- The clock starts when the crew arrives at your pick-up address and stops when the last item is in place at the drop-off.
- The minimum is 2 hours. After that we charge in 15-minute blocks, rounded up to the next block.
- The drive between your two addresses is part of the hourly time. If it uses toll roads, or we need paid parking, we include those costs in your written quote.
- The travel charge is $89 in Zone A (within 20 km of the CBD) or $139 in Zone B (20 to 40 km), once per move. It covers getting the truck to you and back, including fuel and tolls within the zone. Further out, we quote in writing.
- On weekdays, time after 6:30pm is charged at the Saturday rate. If your move is likely to run late, we’ll say so in your quote.
- There’s no deposit. Cancellations and payment are covered in our terms.

How long a move usually takes
These are the times we plan around for an average amount of furniture with easy access. Your written quote is based on your own list and photos.

Add the drive between the two addresses, plus extra time for stairs, long walks from the door to the truck, and beds or tables to take apart. The estimator adds these for you.
Apartment and strata moves
Moving in or out of an apartment building
Rules vary from building to building, so check with your building manager or strata at both ends. Sorting these out early is what keeps an apartment move on time.
Book the goods lift
Many buildings ask you to book the lift for a set time, and some want protective padding fitted first. Book it at both ends and send us the times.
Loading dock or parking
Check whether there’s a loading dock and its height limit, or a spot near the entrance for the truck. If you need a street parking permit, your council can tell you how to get one. Send us the height limit and we’ll confirm the truck fits.
Allowed move times
Some buildings only allow moves on certain days or between certain hours. Tell us the window so we can plan the day around it.
Paperwork for the building
Building managers sometimes ask removalists for paperwork before moving day. Ask early and tell us what they need, and we’ll tell you before you book whether we can provide it.

Before moving day
A checklist for a quicker move
Every minute the crew spends waiting or working around surprises is time you pay for. These steps keep the day short.
- Send us photos of the big items and tell us about stairs, lifts and parking at both addresses
- Book the goods lift and loading dock at both buildings, and pass the times on to us
- Pack and seal your boxes, label them by room, and keep each one light enough for one person to carry
- Take anything heavy or fragile out of drawers
- Defrost and dry the fridge and freezer the day before
- Drain the washing machine hoses, and refit the transit bolts if you still have them
- Measure large pieces against the doors, stairs and lift at the new place
- Keep keys, documents, medicines and valuables with you
Looking after your things
Protection, damage and your rights
We wrap furniture in blankets before it goes on the truck and use trolleys for heavy pieces. If you’re worried about a particular item, tell us when you book so we can plan for it.
If something gets damaged
Tell the crew before they leave, or contact us as soon as you notice, with photos. We’ll look at what happened with you and work out how to put it right. Our terms explain how we handle damage.
Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law
We do not exclude or limit the consumer guarantees you have under the Australian Consumer Law. We have to do the job with due care and skill, make sure it suits any purpose you told us about, and finish within a reasonable time if we didn’t agree on one. If we fall short and it’s a major failure, you can cancel and ask for a refund, or ask for compensation for the drop in value. For other failures, we have to fix the problem within a reasonable time. You can also ask for compensation for loss or damage that was reasonably foreseeable. The ACCC explains these rights.

Your home and contents policy may cover your belongings during a move. Check with your insurer before moving day.

Removals questions
How much does a 1-bedroom move cost?
A studio or 1-bedroom move typically takes 2.5 to 4 hours on site with 2 movers, at $169 an hour on weekdays or $189 on Saturdays, plus the travel charge ($89 in Zone A). Stairs, long walks and the drive between addresses add time. Use the estimator for a range, then we’ll confirm the total in writing.
Do you charge for travel time?
You pay one fixed travel charge per move: $89 in Zone A or $139 in Zone B. It covers getting the truck to your pick-up address and back afterwards, including fuel and tolls within the zone. The drive between your two addresses is charged as part of the hourly time.
What costs extra on a move?
Only the extras you ask for. Packing is charged at the same hourly rate. Pianos and safes are quoted separately. We price any extra before you book. We don’t supply boxes or take away rubbish, so please have your boxes ready before moving day.
Should I book 2 or 3 movers?
Two movers suit most studios and 1- or 2-bedroom homes. For 3 bedrooms we suggest three: the job takes fewer hours, which helps when lift bookings or move times are tight, although the total can be a little higher. For bigger homes, or if you’re not sure, send us photos and we’ll recommend a crew.
Can you move me on a Sunday or public holiday?
No. We take removals bookings Monday to Saturday only. On weekdays, time after 6:30pm is charged at the Saturday rate, and the estimator allows for it from the start time you choose.
Do you move pianos or safes?
Not as part of a standard hourly move. Send us photos, the size or model and the access at both ends, and we’ll tell you in writing whether we can move it and what it costs.
