Flat pack, put together properly
One person comes with the tools, builds your furniture in the room where it will stand and anchors tall pieces to the wall. We assemble beds, wardrobes, chests of drawers, desks, bedside tables, bookcases and TV units, whether they come from IKEA, Kmart, Fantastic Furniture or an online store. We’re independent and not connected with any retailer.
You pay for the time the job takes. The first hour includes travel within Zone A, and after that we charge in 15-minute blocks, so a quick job doesn’t cost the same as a big one.

What common pieces cost to assemble
These are typical times for one person, turned into totals with our rates. Your written price can differ if a piece is bigger or more complex than usual.
All prices include GST. Each price is the total for that item on its own, in Zone A, travel included.

Several items in one visit share the first hour, so together they cost less than their prices added up. Zone B adds $40 per visit. We don’t take bookings on Sundays or public holidays.
Example: a queen bed frame and two bedside tables on a weekday in Zone A take about 85–135 minutes together. That’s the first hour plus 15-minute blocks for the rest, so $185–$254 in total.
Before we arrive
What to have ready
We bring the tools. A few things from you make the job quicker, which keeps the price down.
- All the boxes delivered and in or near the room where the piece will stand. A built wardrobe often won’t fit through a doorway.
- Every part and fixing pack. Check nothing has gone out with the recycling.
- The instructions, or the product name and model number so we can find them online.
- A clear floor space a bit bigger than the finished piece, so we can lay the panels out.
- For anything we anchor: what the wall is made of, if you know, and your landlord’s OK if you rent.
- Where we can park, and any building rules for tradespeople if you live in a unit block.
If a part is missing or damaged
We stop and tell you before going any further. We can finish what’s possible now and come back once the replacement arrives. If a return visit is needed, we agree its price with you in writing first.
Bigger or unusual pieces
Corner and sliding-door wardrobes, bunk and loft beds, and anything taller than about 2 metres take longer than the times above. Send us the product name or a link and we’ll quote in writing.
Safety
Anchoring tall furniture to the wall
Tall, narrow furniture such as wardrobes, bookcases and chests of drawers can tip forward if a child climbs it or several drawers are pulled out at once. Many flat pack pieces come with a wall restraint kit in the box for this reason. We recommend anchoring every tall piece, and we do it as part of the assembly.
- We agree the fixing points with you before we drill
- In plasterboard we fix into the studs where we can, and in brick or concrete we use masonry fixings
- If the fixings in the box don’t suit your wall, we tell you what’s needed. If you ask us to buy them, they’re charged at cost with the receipt
Renting? Ask your landlord or agent before we drill. In NSW, a landlord can’t unreasonably refuse consent to securing furniture to a wall (other than a tiled wall) when it’s needed for safe use. There are exceptions, for example heritage-listed homes, and strata by-laws can also apply. See making changes to a rental property on the NSW Government website. Victoria and Queensland have their own rules, so check with your agent or your state’s tenancy authority.
Packaging
The cardboard and plastic
Flat pack comes with a lot of cardboard, foam and plastic. We can flatten the boxes and gather everything in one spot for you, and that time is part of the job. We don’t take packaging away.
Flattened cardboard usually goes in your household recycling bin. Foam and plastic wrap usually don’t, so check your council’s rules.
Moving house?
Book assembly with your move
Our removals crew can take beds, desks and tables apart at your old place, rebuild them at the new one and assemble new flat pack on the same day. It’s one booking, with no second visit to organise, and your written total shows how each part is charged.
If you have a lot of new flat pack, a separate visit from one person may suit you better than the full crew’s time. Ask us to price both ways when you get your quote.

Flat pack assembly questions
How much does flat pack assembly cost?
It depends on how long the job takes. On a weekday the first hour is $139, including travel in Zone A, then $23 for each 15 minutes after that. A queen bed frame usually comes to $139–$162 and a two-door wardrobe to $231–$323. All prices include GST.
Do you charge per item?
No. We charge for the time the whole visit takes, and the first hour is charged once, however many pieces we build. Two or three items in one visit usually cost less than booking them separately.
Will you anchor my wardrobe or bookcase to the wall?
Yes. We recommend it for any tall piece and do it as part of the assembly, using the restraint kit that came with the furniture or fixings that suit your wall. If you rent, check with your landlord or agent first.
What happens if a part is missing?
We stop and tell you before going any further. Then we agree with you whether to finish what we can now and come back once the replacement part arrives.
Can you take furniture apart for a move?
Yes. We can take apart beds, desks and wardrobes on their own, or our removals crew can do it as part of your move and rebuild everything at the new place. Some flat pack doesn’t survive being taken apart and rebuilt, and we’ll tell you before we start if we think a piece is at risk.
Is the price in the table a fixed quote?
No. It’s a guide based on typical times. We confirm your total in writing before the job, and if the job turns out different from what we agreed, we stop and re-quote before carrying on.
Which areas do you cover?
Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. The first-hour price covers travel within 20 km of the CBD in each city (Zone A). From 20 to 40 km (Zone B) we add $40 per visit, and further out we quote in writing.
