Our man with a van service is for jobs one person can lift safely: a bookcase from Marketplace, a desk and a few boxes, or a room’s worth of things going into storage. We work in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane at the same rates. You pay for the time on the job plus one fixed travel charge, and we confirm the total in writing before we start.

What a man with a van is good for
Anything one person can carry safely, from a single item to a small room’s worth. For a whole unit or house, our 2-mover removals are the better fit. Local notes for each city: Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
Marketplace and Gumtree pick-ups
We collect what you’ve bought from the seller and bring it to your place. Send us the listing photos and measurements so we can check it suits one mover.
A few pieces of furniture
A desk, a bookcase, a bed frame and some boxes, moved across town, to a new unit or to a friend’s place.
Student moves
A room in a share house or student accommodation: boxes, a bed frame, a desk and a chair. Up to about 10 items, with nothing that needs two people to lift.
To and from storage
Things taken to a self-storage unit, or collected from one and brought home. Tell us the unit’s access hours when you book.

What one mover can’t move safely
Some items need two people to lift. We price those jobs as 2 movers and a truck from the start, so the crew and the price are right before moving day.
Not a one-mover job
- Fridges and freezers
- Washing machines, especially up or down stairs
- Double wardrobes
- Anything else that takes two people to lift, such as a large sofa, a sofa bed or a solid timber dining table

Pianos, safes and pool tables need at least two people and the right equipment. Send us photos and we’ll tell you in writing whether we can take the job and what it costs.

How we charge
Time on the job, plus one travel charge
You pay for our time on your job, 1 hour minimum and then 15-minute blocks, plus a fixed travel charge. Each day has its own rate, shown before you book.
All prices include GST. Each rate is the full hourly rate for that day, not a surcharge. The minimum total is the minimum time plus the Zone A travel charge of $89; in Zone B, add $50.

1 mover: minimum 1 hour. 2 movers: minimum 2 hours. After that, time is charged in 15-minute blocks. The travel charge is added once per job.
What you pay for
- Time on the job, from when we arrive at the pick-up address until the last item is unloaded, rounded up to the next 15 minutes. It covers loading, the drive between addresses and unloading.
- One travel charge per job: $89 in Zone A (within 20 km of the CBD) or $139 in Zone B (20 to 40 km). It covers fuel and tolls inside the zone. Further out, we quote in writing.
- On weekdays, time after 6:30pm is charged at the Saturday rate.
What we don’t add
- A stairs fee. Stairs take longer, so they show up in the time, and the estimator allows for them.
- A fuel levy. Fuel is part of the travel charge.
- A card surcharge.
Travel zones are measured from the CBD in each city, and your written quote confirms your zone. We don’t take bookings on Sundays or public holidays.

How much does a man with a van cost in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane?
A weekday job starts from $208 in total: the 1-hour minimum at $119, plus the $89 Zone A travel charge. After the first hour, time is charged in 15-minute blocks. Saturdays are $129 an hour, from $218 in total. The rates are the same in all three cities. All prices include GST.
Can you pick up something I bought on Facebook Marketplace or Gumtree?
Yes. Send us the listing photos, the item’s measurements and the pick-up suburb, and sort out payment with the seller before the day. If the item turns out bigger or heavier than the listing showed, we stop and re-quote before carrying on.
What if one of my items needs two people?
We price the job as 2 movers and a truck: $169 an hour on weekdays or $189 on Saturdays, with a 2-hour minimum. We don’t plan a one-mover job around you or the seller doing the heavy lifting.
Do you charge extra for stairs or fuel?
No. There’s no stairs fee and no fuel levy. Stairs and long walks to the van take longer, so they show up in the time, and fuel is part of the travel charge.
Can you do my student move?
Yes, if it’s about a room’s worth: boxes and light furniture, up to about 10 items, with nothing that needs two people to lift. We can take a bed frame apart and rebuild it as part of the time. A whole unit or share house is a job for our removals service.
Is the online estimate the final price?
No. It’s a guide based on typical job times. We confirm your total in writing by SMS, WhatsApp or email before the job, and if the job on the day is different from what we agreed, we stop and re-quote before carrying on.
